Introduction

Consequently, this professional development experience will explore a range of practical approaches to the writing of journal articles that will include the design of visual materials that enhance audience interest in the reported issues. This course will cover a range of publication options from short practitioner to academic journals. The five themes covered on this course are:
Investigating the wide range of journal options for potential publications
Exploring ways to establish the initial aim, objective, purpose, and outline for a journal article
Analysing how to focus on the journal editorial and audience expectations
Examining the required appropriate language style and the ways to design visual materials
Reviewing and examining several representative example journal articles

To develop understanding at the complete process required to successfully design articles for journal publication

By the end of this course, participants should be able to apply all the key steps in the process of journal article design and engage in the writing of texts with confidence.

The primary learning outcomes will focus on supporting educators to do the following:
Investigate how to get started with the process of writing articles for journal publication
Identify common factors that can deter or distract from the process of writing journal articles
Review appropriate journals and differentiate between academic and practitioner publications
Explore how to focus on audience requirements and expectations
Evaluate how to analyse the range of editorial requirements such as genre, the readership focus, language style, and appropriate conventions
